BUENOS AIRES, Sept 17, 2010 (AFP)
Argentina’s economy grew a hefty 11.8 percent year-over-year in the second quarter, official data released Friday said, signaling a strong bounceback after the global crisis.

The strong expansion of gross domestic product measured by the National Statistics and Census Institute and compared to the same period last year, built on nine percent growth recorded in the first quarter.

Together, the figures suggested Argentina’s economy grew at a pace of 9.4 percent in the first half of 2010 — a return to the level of activity last seen between 2003 and 2007, before the global financial crisis hit, and well above the government’s estimate of 4.3 percent growth for this year.
